Organised by a local group, the 12ks of Christmas is a play on the phrase, 12 Days of Christmas, where willing participants committed to doing 12,000 of something to raise money for three local charities, APCAM, Yellow Submarine and Got2Be.
Some walked or ran it, some parents and kids did bike rides, there was a step aerobics class, one swam the distance in the pool and some wally decided 12,000 seconds of yoga would be a great idea! That works out to be around 3.5 hours…
But we did it!
We started with a lively flow, followed by some playing around with pretzel-like poses and Yin, and ended on a relaxing and calming Nidra session.
I just wanted to say a big thank you to the organisers of the challenge for motivating us to do something fun, whilst raising money and of course to my members who joined me for the afternoon. Here’s what some of them had to say:
“It didn’t actually feel like three and half hours at all!” S Newport
“We thoroughly enjoyed that. My well worked pelvis gave me the best riding lesson ever this afternoon!” M Bridges
“I never thought I’d be able to get off the ground in that position! Much fun, thank you x When’s the next one?!” H Nightingale
“Thank you, Jayne, fantastic session – Feeling the best I have done in a long time.” S Ann

Whilst we don’t have any plans to do another monster session, or indeed have any fundraisers in the pipeline, I am starting to plan events for 2022, so if you have any special requests for masterclasses or some favourite moves you’d like to do more of in your regular classes, please drop me a line via email or message me on Facebook.
In the meantime, keep an eye on the Ad Astra timetable for upcoming yoga, Pilates and Pump classes. See you soon!
