Yoga
Yoga developed over thousands of years as a way of life that focuses on the union between body & mind to achieve a state of meditative consciousness called Samadhi. It originated in India many thousands of years ago. In the West, we tend to practice the asana/physical part of that lifestyle. Asanas are traditionally sitting poses that are held for a period of time, although in modern day Yoga there are hundreds of poses and dozens of Yoga styles which can be delivered fast or slow, sweaty or calm. Very good for stress relief!
Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa Yoga unites movement and breath; the word Vinyasa means ‘to place with consciousness’. The class builds a warming, repeating movement pattern, including Chaturanga, to connect body-breath-mind. This class is suitable for Yoga beginners who currently exercise.
Slow Flow
This Slow Flow class is based on flowing Hatha Yoga and the focus is on flexibility and balance. Working with conscious breath, this slower session is excellent for post workout, or Yoga newbies. There are no Yoga press ups (Chaturanga) and you will feel calm & contented after class.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a restorative, slow and softer form of Yoga that maintains/improves joint mobility and clears the energy channels (meridians); side-effects include improving muscle flexibility and stimulating the ‘rest & digest’ side of your autonomic nervous system.

Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a super slow, softer form of Yoga, where you work on the stiffer tissues in your body such as ligaments and tendons to improve the mobility of your joints, and help to clear blockages in your body’s energy channels (meridians). We spend around 3 minutes, sometimes more, in each postures, relaxing into the poses as comfortably as we can, so it is quite different; some people find staying still for that length of time quite challenging. Yin just makes you feel calm, contented and at one with your body. You will need a pillow, cushion & blanket for this class – we usually offer it on the second Thursday of each month – please check the timetable on Gymcatch to confirm dates.
